Catherine Cieply

Catherine lives and works in Toronto. Using a broad range of styles and colours, including dichroic glass in many of her pieces, Catherine creates unique glass art jewellery that is both functional and exciting to wear. She has been working with leaded glass for five years and has more recently branched out into fused glass work.

Catherine has always been intrigued by glass and its various characteristics. She can trace her interest in glass back to times spent combing beaches for sea glass and playing with kaleidoscopes and prisms as a youngster, and conducting science experiments on glass and its properties as a student.

The glass in each of Catherine’s pieces is carefully selected, cut to shape, and kiln fired at very high temperatures. Each piece is layered to achieve the depth and quality that the glass imparts. The fired product is strung on sterling silver and the end product is a stylish and charming piece of fused glass art jewellery.
