Lara Bazant
Lara Bazant infuses her 15+ years of design experience with a sense of spirit and preservation to adorn women in jewelry that combines sustainability with style. Her designs are internationally recognized for their versatile use, off-beat yet classy look and environmental nod. She has been branded one of Canada’s top eco designers and featured in Tonic and LouLou magazines. In her chemical free studio she implements traditional metalsmithing techniques, and uses sterling silver to breathe new life into old gems
Bazant’s one-of-a-kind and limited edition designs were born out of her experiences as a teenager living in Pakistan. Brought there during the Gulf War by her father who was involved with the United Nations, she began going to the traditional Friday markets and fell in love with what she saw. Her fascinations with third world craftsmanship lead to the process of collecting materials directly from the source. As a result, each piece promotes a fair wage for artisans worldwide.
Lara’s background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New York University, a Diploma in Design from the International Academy of Design, and careers in the theatre the advertising industries. Lara is a proud member of Ontario Crafts Council, Green Enterprise Toronto, the Canadian Association of Women Executives and Entrepreneurs, and Fashion Takes Action.
